Landlords 'likely to see tenants stay put'
Tenants are likely to stay put as moving costs have made it
difficult for them to look for other properties to rent, according
to an expert.
This comes as good news to landlords who can expect existing
tenants to remain in their current accommodation until the market
turns in favour of the tenant.
Managing director at LettingZone Mark Garner said that the cost of
moving houses has been a particular deterrent for tenants, adding
that "they are finding it easier and cheaper to stay put".
He commented that there is a growing demand for properties as more
people are coming onto the rental market including "people leaving
university, getting divorced or looking for their own house".
However, Mr Garner stated that there are not enough properties to
meet this demand and "there is not much more stock coming on to the
market".
