Renting 'is a flexible option for many'

Independent estate agents may be interested to
read the viewpoint of one property expert who believes that rental
accommodation is providing flexibility for many people.
Steven Hilton, spokesperson for the National Landlords Association,
said that his organisation - which has 13,000 members - has long
campaigned for an end to the popular assumption that renting is
somehow inferior to property ownership.
His comments follow the publication of a report by Spareroom.co.uk,
which revealed that the average age of renters has increased by
three years since 2008 to 28.
"People don't necessarily want to commit to the long-term
investment of home ownership," stated Mr Hilton.
This news comes after Abbey Mortgages recently reported that many
Britons would be better off purchasing a house rather than
continuing to rent, except for those living in London.
The firm claimed that 1.61 million people could save a collective
£1 billion by buying a property within the next year.
