Personally I think large bodies of water in our small gardens require too much effort for the reward but it is vital for a healthy eco-system to have some somewhere – even a bowl of water somewhere helps many creatures live a more comfortable life.

Large, purpose-made ‘bowls have become very popular over the last couple of years and I can see why although I haven’t tried one myself.
