World Book Night starts this evening so in the spirit of the event I thought I would share three of my favourite garden titles. Let me know what yours are.
My most often used is the culinary equivalent to a reliable Delia Smith Cookery book, The RHS Encyclopaedia of Plants and Flowers, by Christopher Bricknell.
For an easy to read and fascinating account of the history and development in British gardens since forever there is none better than the wonderful Jenny Uglow’s, A Little History of British Gardening.
And on a personal level I find, The Education of a Gardener, by that wonderful, classic British garden designer, Russell Page, a literary treasure.
The Garden Museum runs a garden writing literary festival every year and their bookshop stocks a good range of garden books: http://www.gardenmuseum.org.uk
