August is the real deal – high summer, high spirits and high expectations for a glorious month of sunny weather, good food, relaxation and fun.

Keeping all that in mind we have chosen the perfect prize for our August Spot-it! competition – a bit of indulgent luxury from the wonderful Modern British restaurant that is –  Heirloom –  in Crouch End.
The Competition  As you know, to celebrate our 250th anniversary year we are giving away a great prize every month until the end of the year. All you have to do is identify where the photo of the month was taken, sign up to our really interesting blog, and send an email to spot-it@prickettandellis.com with the right answer. For more information on our prizes and terms and conditions see our competition page at:  https://www.prickettandellis.com/spot-it-2/

Good luck everybody! Are you ready for the mystery photo?

This is very easy for people who live near by – and for me as I was married here. But, for those who are thinking, ‘that’s St James!’ (nope, it isn’t) or, ‘that’s in Crouch End’ (it isn’t), here are some clues:  Some of you may know it better as part of the view from the pub garden opposite; The grey courtyard in front is quite severe; Sting is a famous neighbour (or has been); John Prickett held his first auction in this village in 1767.
The Prize for August
The lucky winner of our August competition will be dining in style at the wonderful Heirloom in Crouch End. We have arranged for you to have a delicious dinner for two – on the date of your choice – to a value of up to £150. Heirloom prides itself on serving Modern British food with an emphasis on great fresh and, wherever possible, British ingredients. They grow many of the vegetables and herbs themselves in their Hazeldene Farm and are passionate about their meat and fish. The bar is equally well considered, with interesting products from innovative distillers and wine-makers.
You may like to begin dinner with one of their intriguing cocktails – I would be tempted by the Cardamom Spriggan,
followed by three courses from the exciting menu,
not forgetting an interesting bottle of wine, of course. The friendly staff will ensure that you have a great experience – a lovely summer treat.
For a peek at the menu and more about the ethos of this well respected restaurant see their website:

Our thanks to the directors of Heirloom for taking part in this month’s prize event.
