Get ready for The Great Summer Festival at Alexandra Palace which takes place on Saturday 23 July, starting at 11 am.
There are a host of activities from a huge water slide to a silent disco- plus lots to eat and drink of course. The thing which has caught my eye is the inaugural Great British Pram Race.
Here’s what they say about it:
Prams. We spend a large part of our early lives in them and then splashes of our later lives pushing them. In between these titans of the pavement lie gathering dust in our garages and sheds, unloved and often forgotten.
Well, not anymore. Club de Fromage asks you to bring out your prams and revive a Great British tradition – that great tradition of bombing about with a pram in a race to the death (well not the death, but certainly something quite serious).
On 23rd July, the inaugural Great British Pram Race will be unveiled at Ally Pally as past of the Summer Festival. All profits will be going to Parkinsons UK and MNDA.
There will be three main categories: Kids and parents (on a slightly smaller loop), adults and the more sedate vintage run (think deerstalkers and Mary Poppins prams). Prizes will be awarded not only to the winning teams but also for best pimped out buggy. Fancy dress is encouraged.
I won’t be taking part this year but I’m not ruling it out for next time and meanwhile it will do no harm to check out the competition in readiness. We could even enter Prickett & Ellis office teams – all in a good cause of course.
