I went to a specialist running shoe shop the other day to buy some trainers and the guy asked me if I had been inspired by the Olympics. Well, no – I hadn’t at the time but I do love the look of the swimmers powering their way through the water. I can’t swim so it’s a bit of a fantasy but if you can and are tempted to get back in the water now might be a good time. the weathermen say it’s going to feel warm this weekend.
Opening Day at the Park Road Lido 1926
We’re lucky to have just the place to do it too. The Park Road Lido has been keeping locals wet and winning since 1926. At 50 meters by 23 meters it is one of the largest in London – I believe it’s heated too – and there’s a paddling pool for the children. I remember spending happy days splashing around, despite not swimming – that was a long time ago and it all became a bit tired looking.
But now, following an £8 million investment programme the Lido has been given a complete makeover. I’m reliably told (by their website) that there are ‘brand new changing areas, bathroom facilities, a new reception area and cafe. The 50m long pool has also been renovated and new sun-loungers, landscaping and water features give the whole site a relaxing, family-friendly feel.’
Let me know what you think if you get down there this weekend. I am off on a two week holiday so there will be no posts from me until I’m back. Have a great weekend.
