Talking to the staff of Sally Bourne today it seems that we buck national trends when it comes to choosing a colour for our period front doors. Popular colours around the country are black, navy, claret and muted olive greens with more contemporary style houses going for rich aubergine – and most are high gloss. So, what about us? Well, it seems that 80% of Sally Bourne customers choose Farrow & Ball colours in a matt finish – shiny is not for us. Our favourite colours buck even F&B countrywide trends – we like shades of black, such as Railings, greys, like Downpipe, smudgy greens such as Calke Green or Castle Gray and, (here’s an exclusive for you), the emerging star is the gorgeous Hague Blue featured in the photo.
If it’s true that most people take just a few seconds to choose their new home then an appealing front door has to be worth a little effort – after all several of those seconds are spent waiting for the door to open. My thanks to Sally Bourne Interiors of Muswell Hill.
