The theme for this week’s board is Peace. Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.

What comes to mind when you think of peace? The dove and olive branch? – though I’m not sure I’d want to wear it on my chest.

Or maybe a moment of peace with your feet up, reading a book?

This must be everyone’s idea of peace at the end of the day.

Or maybe this?

Or a hammock made for two?

Cooking together does it for some.

Or a game of petanque – surprisingly popular in Britain. I think there’s a club in Highgate Village, though they may call it boules.

There’s nothing like gathering the family around a table to feel that all is at peace with the world.

But whatever peace means to you in your everyday life, it’s something we wish for everyone around the world, especially today
