I (like most of you I suspect) would just like summer to get on with it and hot up. Thinking about putting some heat into my life has inspired this weeks theme – the chilli. By the way did you know that all the world’s chillies originated in South America and not in Asia – what would the world do without them.
Get yourself down to the farm to soak up some heat – these little beauties are grown on the South Devon Chilli Farm or book an ‘experience’ at Cherwood Nursery, Chawston on the Cambridge/ Bedfordshire border.
Wearing this D&G shirt could certainly be a chilli themed experience too.
Someone fancied a touch of heat in the kitchen – not sure it works for me.
But this slick and sensual chest-of-drawers does – called the ‘Chilli Pepper Punch’, it is all shiny and bursting with zing like a fat chilli.
And what do you think of this Chilli Chair and Pouf, designed by Paul Falkenberg in the ROM, Belgium collection? It’s stretching my imagination but it’s fun, as is visiting the little town of Esplette in the Pays Basque, SW France. They produce their own special chillies called Piment d’Esplette.
Every autumn all the south-facing village houses are adorned with festoons of drying chillies. It’s really a wonderful sight.
Of course there are so many varieties of chilli to choose from – and they’re certainly not all red – so take your pick and be inspired.
