It’s a horror story this week – excruciatingly frustrating lines of traffic at certain times of the day due to the closure of Wightman Road, N8. A part of this road is actually a bridge crossing the Barking to Gospel Oak railway line. It is 120 years old and beginning to creak so there is no option but to build a new one. These things take time – six months we’re promised – still, it will help us get used to the new speed limit, making us feel like boy racers when we emerge from the gridlock to a free-flowing 20mph. Remember to leave more time for your journey especially when all the local schools are back from the holiday.
