Just a little heads up today about burglary in our area. It seems that there have been a number of incidents where men have knocked on the door saying they are from the water board or another service provider and that they have to check something in the house. The local ward police officer in Muswell Hill has asked us to spread the advice to never let these people into your home, even if they present what looks like genuine credentials.
Read her advice in more detail:
There appears to be a spate of burglaries and attempted burglaries occurring whereby males are knocking on doors stating they need to check the water (and such like). If this happens please DO NOT let them in even if they show ID. My advice would be:
1. Take the details from their ID card and ring the Company concerned to check they are genuine.
2. Do not let them in whilst you do this.
3. If you have concerns call the Police. We can then obtain their details and deal with them accordingly.
Too many people are falling for this scam and letting people in, they are becoming a victim of burglary. Please don’t become the next.
Tell as many people as you can.
Regards…Sharon
